Open Enrollment Is Ending Soon — Are You Enrolled?

Are you still in need of health insurance for yourself or your family? Individual coverage opportunities to enroll in a health plan will be ending soon!

The open enrollment period to buy coverage occurs each year, from November 15 – February 15. You have the opportunity to find insurance through the Washington Health Benefit Exchange or you may purchase a plan directly from a health insurance company.


Here at Community Health Center of Snohomish County, we are dedicated to ensuring that our patients are able to find a health insurance plan that covers all of their needs at a reasonable price. Our staff members are available to you to provide insight and assistance in the enrollment process. We can help you compare plans, and give advice on if you may qualify for assistance on for paying monthly premiums or subsidies.

Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) Enrollment

Enrollment for the Washington Apple Health (previously known as Medicaid) is open all year long. Our staff can help you to see if you qualify for this insurance program or help you renew your coverage. We focus on ensuring that members of our community that have low income are still able to find the medical care that they need.

You may be eligible for Apple Health if you are:

  • United States citizen or a documented immigrant that has lived in the United States for at least five years
  • You are not currently in jail or prison
  • Your annual income is at or below 138 of the federal poverty level

Health Benefit Exchange Individual Insurance Policies

Individual insurance policies provides health coverage for you and/or your family members. The opportunity to buy these individual plans, called the open enrollment, is ending February 15th. Call our office to talk to a staff member about enrolling in this coverage so that you are able to get the coverage that you need.

(If you need coverage outside of the open enrollment period, special enrollment may be possible for those that have a qualifying event.)

Our staff can help you to choose an insurance policy that will best fit your needs, while also giving insight into factors that may determine how much you will pay in monthly premiums. Some examples of these factors are:

  • Your age and the age of any family members joining your plan
  • Tobacco use
  • The size of the family covered by the insurance policy (the cost will increase with each additional member)
  • Where you live
  • The benefits included in your health plan
  • The amount of your deductible

The cost of your premium may be decreased if you qualify for a subsidy.


What You Will Need to Apply for an Insurance Policy Through The Health Benefit Exchange

Whether you are meeting with someone from our staff to help you, or whether you are doing this at home, there are a few things that you will need to be able to apply for insurance coverage. Please bring or locate the following:

  • The Social Security number and date of birth for each household member that will be on the insurance plan (including yourself)
  • If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will need your immigration information
  • An estimate of your monthly household income.
