School-Based Dental Program
Community Health Center of Snohomish County (CHC) provides professional, on-site dental services at your student’s school. Our goal is to introduce dental care and make it simple, convenient, and stress-free so students can stay healthy and be focused on school. We will provide exams and preventive treatment to bring quality care directly to where kids learn and grow.

Services Offered:

Dental Screening – A routine procedure performed by a dental professional to assess the overall health of the student’s mouth.

Oral Health Education – An educational session on proper brushing and flossing techniques.

Sealants – A thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces (pits and grooves) of molars.

Fluoride Varnish – A topical dental treatment application on the teeth to protect the tooth’s first layer (enamel).
Frequently Asked Questions
When are these services taking place at my student’s school?
The School-Based team will go to their school 1-2 times a year to provide these services. School staff will share the exact dates with you and what services we will provide your student at that time.
Who will be seen for these services?
All students are eligible for this program. Before we see your student, a signed paper or online consent form must be filled out. There are no income or other eligibility requirements.
How do I sign up my student for these services?
If you would like your student to participate, you can fill out the consent form, sign it, and return it to their school.
Will there be a cost for these dental services?
There is no out-of-pocket cost, regardless of whether your student has insurance or not. If insurance is provided, we will bill accordingly; however, there is no cost to your family or the school.
How will the program work during school hours?
Students with a signed consent form will visit a designated area for a visual exam and/or preventive treatment. They will be out of class for the shortest amount of time possible. Your student will get a ‘School-Based Program Results’ card to share the findings and let you know if additional treatment is recommended. If additional treatment is recommended and can be done at your student’s school, they will get additional consents. If you would like to get that treatment done at your student’s school, please fill them out and return them to your student’s school.
What if my student has cavities or needs further care?
If your student has cavities or needs further care, our staff will contact you, the parent/guardian, for prompt follow-up. For families without a dentist, we can assist in setting up care at one of our CHC clinics.

Regardless of Insurance
Community Health Center of Snohomish County (CHC) provides affordable health services, including medical, dental, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, and pharmacy services. We welcome patients who are on Washington Apple Health, Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Tricare, select private insurances, and those who are uninsured. For those without insurance, CHC will help patients sign up for Washington Apple Health; if ineligible, we offer a sliding fee discount based on household income and family size.
